MammoSite®

Breast-conserving therapy for breast cancer generally involves a lumpectomy (removing the tumor plus a small area of tissue surrounding the tumor) followed by six weeks of daily radiation directed toward the entire breast. For select breast cancer patients, MammoSite radiation therapy offers a different option. It irradiates the breast tissue immediately surrounding the lumpectomy cavity and is done over five days.
